Along China's south coast and with a port located on the Pearl River, the city of Guangzhou provides important access to and from both Hong Kong and Macau. Due to its sea access the city boasts a successful trade industry, with an Export Commodities Fair held there every spring and autumn. However, not limited to simply business events, those traveling to the city can enjoy a variety of local attractions and with a stay in one of the five star hotels Guangzhou becomes a location for both business and sight-seeing.

The Pearl River that runs through the city takes its name from a large rock island that was left in the center of the river when it was first created. As the sea ran over the rock and as the rock became smoother, it took on a pearl like quality, which led to it's now well known name. With well positioned riverside five star hotels Guangzhou provides travelers with the option to enjoy the water views whilst experiencing the river for themselves as they drift along it in a pleasure boat. For a more dynamic view of the river it is worth taking an evening cruise. Passing around 30 different sites of interest, each narrated and explained by assistants on board, local culture and history often missed during the day is brought to life.

Other key attractions in the city include White Cloud Mountain, a rocky mount surrounded by clouds and creating a peaceful and serene environment for those that brave the heights. For those that decide that they'd rather not walk the mountain path a cable car can be taken and arrives just beneath the highest point and within a picturesque garden. The views, although far reaching on a clear day are only half the attraction as once visitors arrive the garden provides an opportunity to eat, drink and play traditional Chinese sports.

Another well known landscape worth exploring is Yuexiu Park which houses important historical monuments within its grounds and views of the Yuexiu Mountain. Elegance is also to be found at the local Guangdong Opera which is now featured in the World Intangible Cultural Heritage List and is proving ever more popular with visitors. A mix of martial arts, music, acrobatics and dancing this type of opera provides an excellent opportunity for post dining entertainment.

For those that prefer exploring the commercial side of a city and enjoy a bit of retail therapy Guangzhou's has many shopping areas to explore. Popular with many shoppers is Shangxia Jiu Lu in the Liwan District of Xiguan. With over 200 stores, this street has a good choice of restaurants and tea houses to try. However, for both traditional and contemporary fashions Zhuangyuan Fang is well worth a visit. Although a small commercial street, this area is popular amongst young shoppers.

Hotels in the local area provide an ideal base from which to explore the shops, historical sites and events in Guangzhou and offer extra facilities to match the needs of each individual guest. Many hotels offer a shuttle bus or transport service to and from the city center so getting around won't be a problem and many are located in particularly beautiful locations with views of the surrounding landscapes.

For the business traveler staying in any one of the city's five star hotels Guangzhou provides a range of options to make the stay stress-free. Wi-Fi is easily accessible and often free and rooms are well equipped with cable TV, en-suite bathrooms, mini bar and air conditioning. Those seeking rest and relaxation may prefer to choose from one of the hotels in the area that offer spa facilities, which range from sauna's, swimming pools and jacuzzi to sports and fitness centers. Depending on each individual hotel a range of on-site sports are offered as are different dining options. Food available at hotels in the city provide guests with an equally varied range of options from Cantonese cuisine to international dishes and fresh seafood.

With so much to choose from Guangzhou is an ideal destination for any holiday or business traveler, opening up a unique view of a culture full of historical sites and picturesque views and all accessible from the comfort of a range of five star hotels.
